ElephantNY is committed to transparency. This page explains how we report, how we use AI, and how we handle corrections.
Editorial Process
Every story and column moves through four stages:
- Source verification: Each claim is confirmed by at least two independent sources where possible.
- First draft: AI-assisted drafting (large language models) is used to accelerate reporting and improve coverage breadth.
- Editor review: A named editor reviews every piece for accuracy, tone, and originality before publication.
- Publish + update: Stories are updated as new information becomes available; material corrections are logged in the «Corrections» section below.
How We Use AI
We use GPT-4-class large language models to draft early versions of news write-ups for speed and consistency. No article is published without human editor review. Facts, names, dates, numbers, and quotes are always verified by a human before publication.
Our AI use is bounded — we will never:
- Fabricate sources; all citations point to real documents, interviews, or reports.
- Manufacture quotes from real people.
- Substitute AI judgment for editorial judgment — opinion columns reflect the named columnist’s own voice, edited by humans.
Author Identity
Every piece is bylined by a named writer or editor with a stated bio and area of expertise. Author profiles are listed in the Authors directory.
Corrections
If we identify a material error in a story, we append a clearly labeled «Correction» note at the bottom of the piece, summarize the change, and date-stamp it. To report an error, write to info@elephantny.com.
Advertising & Sponsorships
Sponsored content is always clearly labeled «Sponsored» at the top of the piece. Editorial coverage is independent of advertisers.
